Fabrication and test of a YBa2Cu3O7-δ three-pole band pass filter

We designed and fabricated a Tchebysheff three-pole bandpass microstrip filter with a center frequency off= 9.5 GHz and bandwidth at —3 dB of 0.8%. The device has been made with high-quality YBa2Cu307-δ (YBCO) films deposited on LaA103 substrates by an inverted cylindrical magnetron sputtering technique. The microwave behavior of the YBCO films has been studied using a microstrip resonator technique in the range 1-6 GHz. The best films show a surface resistance valueR
s = 60 μΩ atT = 4.2 K (f= 3 GHz). The power dependence of the surface impedance has been investigated. The microwave response of the filter has been measured atT = 4.2 K and 77 K as a function of the input power up to 10 dBm, obtaining results in agreement with the measurements performed using a microstrip resonator. The effect of the package geometry on the center frequency has been also studied.
