Bài báo khám phá tính cạnh tranh trong ngành ngân hàng ở Fiji bằng cách sử dụng phương pháp Panzar và Rosse (J Ind Econ 35:443–456, 1987). Chúng tôi tính toán các tỷ lệ tập trung và chỉ số Herfindahl–Hirschman dựa trên tổng tài sản, khoản cho vay, và tiền gửi để kiểm tra mức độ tập trung. Để tính toán thống kê H của Panzar-Rosse, chúng tôi sử dụng phương pháp hồi quy hiệu cố định, được kiểm soát đúng mức về độ không đồng nhất. Kết quả cho thấy các ngân hàng ở Fiji thể hiện hành vi độc quyền và thiên vị về mô hình độc quyền/biến đổi phỏng đoán của oligopoly ngắn hạn khi xem xét mức độ ý nghĩa của các giới hạn trên và dưới của thống kê H đã tính toán. Hơn nữa, kết quả cũng cho thấy rằng doanh thu của các ngân hàng bị ảnh hưởng tích cực bởi chi phí lãi suất, tỷ lệ an toàn vốn và số lượng chi nhánh; và bị ảnh hưởng tiêu cực bởi chi phí nhân sự, các chi phí hoạt động khác và quy mô công ty được đo bằng tổng tài sản.
