Kết quả của chứng ăn uống vô độ được so sánh với nhóm đối chứng khỏe mạnh và chứng chán ăn bằng cách sử dụng phân tích mô hình hỗn hợp.Kết quảNhững người mắc chứng ăn uống vô độ có những ước lượng lớn hơn so với nhóm đối chứng khỏe mạnh, trong khi có những ước lượng nhỏ hơn so với nhóm mắc chứng chán ăn. Những khác biệt này chủ yếu được tìm thấy cho các kích thước khẩu phần ăn trung gian. Không có sự khác biệt nào về các điều kiện (dự định ăn; chung) được tìm thấy giữa các nhóm.Kết luậnTrong khi ước lượng kích thước khẩu phần ăn, những cá nhân mắc chứng ăn uống vô độ dường như nằm ở giữa nhóm đối chứng khỏe mạnh và nhóm mắc chứng chán ăn. Các triệu chứng rối loạn ăn uống ở những người mắc chứng ăn uống vô độ có mối liên hệ mạnh nhất với ước lượng khẩu phần cao hơn. Điều này có thể phản ánh một khía cạnh của các sai lệch nhận thức thường thấy cũng trong chứng chán ăn. Một lựa chọn trị liệu có thể bao gồm việc tiếp xúc hình ảnh thường xuyên với các khẩu phần thực phẩm tăng dần, nhằm giúp hiệu chỉnh lại những nhận thức thị giác về những gì là một "khẩu phần ăn có kích thước bình thường".
