Trong bài báo này, các mẫu đá (cát kết và phiến) từ tầng đá vỉa than Gondwana thấp đã được thu thập từ 10 mỏ khác nhau (tám mỏ than) ở khu vực Jharia và Raniganj thuộc lưu vực Damodar, Ấn Độ. Các tham số cường độ (cường độ nén đơn trục (UCS) và cường độ kéo Brazil (BTS)) chủ yếu quyết định các khía cạnh thiết kế trong khai thác mỏ. Đây là những tham số đầu vào phổ biến nhất cho bất kỳ phân loại khối đá nào. Hơn nữa, việc xác định trực tiếp các tham số cường độ là tốn kém, mất nhiều thời gian, không thể tiếp cận tại hiện trường, tốn công sức, phá hủy và cần lao động có kinh nghiệm; trong khi phương pháp gián tiếp để ước lượng các tham số cường độ từ tốc độ xung siêu âm (UPV) là rẻ, dễ, nhanh chóng, có thể tiếp cận tại hiện trường, không phá hủy và dễ dàng. Tốc độ xung siêu âm (UPV), UCS và BTS trong điều kiện khô; mật độ (ρ), độ rỗng (φ) và thông tin về loại đá đã được sử dụng làm tham số đầu vào để dự đoán UPV, UCS và BTS trong các điều kiện bão hòa bằng cách sử dụng hồi quy đơn giản (SR), hồi quy đa biến (MR) và mạng nơ-ron nhân tạo (ANN). Sự thay đổi trong UPV, UCS và BTS từ các điều kiện khô sang bão hòa được quan sát là một hàm của các tính chất nội tại (ρ và φ) của đá vỉa than. Cuối cùng, một phân tích so sánh giữa SR, ANN và MR đã được thực hiện trong một biểu đồ phân tán 1:1 giữa giá trị đo được và giá trị dự đoán.
