cDNA mã hóa cho enzym endoglucanase EGII của P. janthinellum đã được nhân bản và giải trình tự. Khung đọc mở bao gồm 1230 nucleotide và trình tự axit amin suy diễn cho thấy độ tương đồng tổng thể là 63% với egl2 của T. reesei. Miền gắn cellulose của EGII đại diện cho một thành viên điển hình của gia đình A của các enzym cellulase. Gen egl2 chỉ được kích thích bởi cellulose hoặc cellobiose mà không phải bởi sophorose.
