Ung thư là một tình trạng sinh lý chịu ảnh hưởng từ cả yếu tố nội sinh và ngoại sinh trong tiến trình phát triển của nó. Nó bắt nguồn từ sự tăng trưởng tế bào bất thường, nơi các tế bào trải qua những thay đổi di truyền lớn, vượt qua hệ thống tín hiệu và làm giảm tính liên kết di truyền. Tài liệu đã mô tả rõ ràng các nghiên cứu về tổn thương DNA bao gồm các đột biến tác động mà làm cản trở các chiến lược điều trị. Tuy nhiên, với sự phát triển của y học hiện đại, các nghiên cứu gần đây đang cố gắng khám phá vai trò của các RNA trong sự tiến triển của các khối u ác tính. Nhiều RNA không mã hóa đã được xác định là một thành phần tích cực trong hệ gen ung thư. Bài viết này nhằm xem xét vai trò của các RNA không mã hóa dài trong bức tranh các loại ung thư và giá trị dự đoán của chúng như những dấu ấn sinh học trong mục tiêu phân tử với tính ứng dụng lâm sàng và lợi ích trị liệu.
