Temperature was set at 33°C at the beginning of the experiment and was gradually decreased to 21°C at the end of the experiment.
Photoperiod was set at 23L:1D from 1 to 7 d of age and 20L:4D was maintained from 8 to 41 d of age. Light intensity was set at 30, 10, and 5 lux from 1 to 7, 8 to 14, and 15 to 41 d of age, respectively. The intensity was verified at bird level (30 cm) using a photometric sensor [17].
