Nghiên cứu đánh giá ảnh hưởng của việc phân loại kích thước đến hiệu quả nuôi dưỡng cá chép châu Âu trong giai đoạn hậu ấu trừ. Cá chép 34 ngày tuổi được nuôi trong vòng 2 tuần trong ba nhóm thí nghiệm: nhóm kích thước nhỏ (SM, trọng lượng trung bình 0.061 ± 0.011 g), nhóm kích thước lớn (SL, trọng lượng trung bình 0.148 ± 0.024 g) và nhóm không phân loại (US, trọng lượng trung bình 0.105 ± 0.048 g) trong hệ thống nuôi trồng thủy sản tuần hoàn (21 °C; 12L:12D). Vào cuối thí nghiệm, tỷ lệ tăng trưởng đặc biệt (% ngày−1) ở nhóm SM (9.48 ± 0.34) cao hơn đáng kể (P < 0.05) so với nhóm SL (6.95 ± 0.40) và nhóm US (8.35 ± 0.60); tuy nhiên, sự tương quan về kích thước (trọng lượng ban đầu so với trọng lượng cuối) vẫn được duy trì trong tất cả các nhóm thí nghiệm (rsp > 0.77). Tăng trưởng sinh khối cá (% của IBs) cao hơn đáng kể (P < 0.05) ở cả hai nhóm phân loại là 344 ± 29 và 256 ± 6 cho nhóm SM và SL, tương ứng, so với nhóm US (233 ± 10), điều này trực tiếp xuất phát từ việc sống sót cao hơn ở các nhóm phân loại (> 90.0%) so với nhóm US (75.6%).
