Các trải nghiệm thời thanh niên và hiệu suất học tập đã làm giảm độ chênh lệch về trình độ học vấn giữa nam và nữ. Việc điều chỉnh cho các trải nghiệm thời thanh niên cũng cho thấy một hiệu ứng ức chế; phụ nữ hấp dẫn đồng giới trong thanh thiếu niên và tuổi trưởng thành có xác suất dự đoán thấp hơn về việc có bằng tốt nghiệp trung học hoặc thấp hơn so với phụ nữ chỉ hấp dẫn khác giới trong thanh thiếu niên và tuổi trưởng thành. Những phát hiện của chúng tôi thách thức các nghiên cứu trước đây tài liệu về trình độ học vấn cao hơn trong cộng đồng tình dục thiểu số tại Mỹ. Cần có thêm các nghiên cứu dựa trên dân số để ghi nhận trình độ học vấn của người lớn thuộc cộng đồng tình dục thiểu số.
