Bài báo này vừa là một tổng quan về khoa học mới nhất liên quan đến hệ sinh thái đầm lầy Hồ Poyang vừa là một phần giới thiệu cho số đặc biệt này do Jun Xu biên tập. Hồ Poyang là hồ nước ngọt lớn nhất ở Trung Quốc và là một trong những phức hệ hồ nước ngọt/đầm lầy lớn nhất ở Châu Á. Các đầm lầy ven bờ hồ Poyang đóng một vai trò quan trọng trong việc bảo tồn đa dạng sinh học khu vực và toàn cầu, đặc biệt là đối với các loài chim di cư vào mùa đông. Kể từ khi đập Tam Hiệp đi vào hoạt động năm 2003, quy mô và tần suất của các biến động mức nước theo mùa cực đoan ở Hồ Poyang đã tăng lên một cách đáng kể. Chúng tôi tổng hợp tài liệu hiện có và những đóng góp cho số đặc biệt này về hệ sinh thái đầm lầy Hồ Poyang và các sinh vật ở đây liên quan đến những tác động từ đập Tam Hiệp. Các tác động xảy ra đối với sinh vật của Hồ Poyang và sự thích nghi của chúng với những thay đổi thủy văn do đập gây ra hiện vẫn chưa được hiểu rõ. Việc quản lý thích ứng đối với hồ này và các đầm lầy liên quan cần được đánh giá thêm thông qua việc giám sát toàn diện, lâu dài, bao gồm một loạt các thông số liên quan đến đặc điểm thủy văn của hệ thống, chất lượng nước, địa hình, sinh vật thủy sinh, thực vật đầm lầy và động vật đầm lầy liên quan.
