Douleurs oropharyngées d’origine œsophagienne

Plusieurs désordres oesophagiens constituent une source possible de douleur thoracique, le plus fréquent à ce chapitre étant le reflux gastro-oesophagien. La douleur ressentie dans le cadre du reflux gastro-oesophagien prend souvent la forme d’un brûlement ou d’une algie d’allure coronarienne pouvant s’irradier à la région orofaciale et pharyngée. Par ses effets directs sur les structures dentaires et la muqueuse oropharyngée, le reflux gastro-oesophagien peut aussi contribuer à l’apparition d’une hypersensibilité dentinaire, d’une sensation de brûlement oral, d’une pharyngalgie chronique, d’une pharyngopyrose et d’une odynophagie. Le présent article se veut une revue de la littérature récente sur ce sujet et s’attarde sur les mécanismes pathogéniques et neurophysiologiques impliqués dans la production de ces symptômes.
