Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu này là điều tra xem chất lượng dịch vụ giáo dục và hình ảnh thể chế của trường đại học có tác động đến sự hài lòng tổng thể của sinh viên đối với trải nghiệm học tập tại trường cũng như các hậu quả tiềm tàng của những mối quan hệ này đối với lòng trung thành của sinh viên hay không. Cụ thể, trong bối cảnh giáo dục đại học ngày càng cạnh tranh hiện nay, những khái niệm này đã trở thành mối quan tâm chiến lược tại cả trường đại học công lập và tư thục. Để giải thích cho hệ thống mối quan hệ phức tạp giữa các cấu trúc này, một số giả thuyết đã được hình thành và kiểm nghiệm thông qua mô hình phương trình cấu trúc. Dữ liệu được thu thập thông qua một bảng câu hỏi trực tuyến được phát cho 14.870 sinh viên đang theo học tại Đại học Pisa. Kết quả cung cấp những hiểu biết quý giá và cho thấy rằng giảng dạy và bài giảng, cũng như tổ chức giảng dạy và khóa học, là những yếu tố chính xác định sự hài lòng và lòng trung thành của sinh viên trong các thành phần học thuật hơn của dịch vụ giáo dục. Hơn nữa, vai trò quan trọng mà hình ảnh của trường đại học đóng là đáng lưu ý, cả về tác động trực tiếp và gián tiếp của nó đối với sự hài lòng của sinh viên cũng như lòng trung thành của sinh viên và việc giảng dạy và bài giảng.
