Phân tích trình tự của các loci hrp và các gen hiệu ứng trong các vùng lân cận đã cho thấy sự tương đồng cao giữa hai chủng phylotype I của Ralstonia solanacearum, GMI1000 và chủng Nhật Bản OE1-1. Phân tích thêm về sự phân bố của avrA và popP1, được biết đến như là các yếu tố xác định phản ứng nhạy cảm cực độ (HR) trên cây thuốc lá Nicotiana tabacum, trong 22 chủng phylotype I của Nhật Bản đã tiết lộ rằng tất cả các chủng đều có một trong hai alen avrA khác nhau và 10 chủng có popP1 giống hệt nhau nhưng 12 chủng còn lại thì không. Sau khi xâm nhập vào lá thuốc lá, hơn một nửa trong số 22 chủng này đã kích thích HR. Kết hợp với khả năng kích thích HR, avrA và popP1 do đó không có khả năng là yếu tố xác định duy nhất của HR trong các chủng phylotype I Nhật Bản.
