Phục hồi cá nhân đã trở thành một phương pháp ngày càng quan trọng trong việc chăm sóc những người mắc rối loạn tâm thần nặng và do đó trong phương hướng của các dịch vụ sức khỏe tâm thần. Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu này là để đánh giá quá trình phục hồi cá nhân ở những người sử dụng các dịch vụ sức khỏe tâm thần, và làm rõ vai trò của các biến số như triệu chứng, tự kỳ thị, nhân khẩu học và điều trị. Các đo lường chuẩn hóa về quá trình phục hồi cá nhân, phục hồi lâm sàng và kỳ thị nội tâm đã được thực hiện bởi một mẫu 312 người tham gia trong một chương trình Rối loạn Tâm thần Nặng. Người sử dụng đánh giá cao nhất các yếu tố phục hồi là: cải thiện sức khỏe và sự tinh thần tổng quát; có các chuyên gia quan tâm; hy vọng; và cảm giác có ý nghĩa trong cuộc sống. Đã có sự khác biệt đáng kể giữa trải nghiệm cảm nhận và tầm quan trọng tương đối gán cho từng thành phần của REE. Mô hình hồi quy (χ2 = 6.72, p = .394; GFI = .99, SRMR = .03) đã xác định cách những khác biệt tích cực liên quan đến sự hiện diện cao hơn của các chỉ số phục hồi (β = .12, p = .05), và điều này lại có mối liên hệ tiêu cực với chỉ số triệu chứng đã phát triển (β = −.33, p < .001).
