Die diffuse idiopathische skelettale Hyperostose (Synonym DISH-Syndrom, Morbus Forestier-Ott, Spondylosis hyperostotica) ist eine häufige systemische Entität mit Ausbildung ankylosierender Formationen an der Wirbelsäule sowie Ossifikationen an den peripheren Enthesen, welche bevorzugt bei der älteren Bevölkerung auftritt. Die Erkrankung wird trotz der steigenden Prävalenz im Alter wegen ihres schleichenden Verlaufs häufig verkannt. Die diffuse idiopathische skelettale Hyperostose kann einen asymptomatischen radiographischen Zufallsbefund darstellen oder in Form multilokulärer Beschwerden, wie Rücken- und Nackenschmerzen, Einschränkung der Beweglichkeit, peripherer Gelenkbefall, Dysphagie, Globusgefühl, Adipositas, Hyperurikämie und kardiovaskuläre Komorbiditäten manifest werden.
