Các can thiệp chăm sóc kéo dài đã được chứng minh là cải thiện khả năng duy trì giảm cân sau khi kết thúc điều trị béo phì ban đầu; tuy nhiên, chưa rõ liệu các chương trình này có hiệu quả tương tự đối với người tham gia gốc Phi Mỹ và người tham gia da trắng hay không.
