Các ống phấn đã bị plasmolyzed của Nicotiana tabacum mỗi ống giải phóng từ một đến ba tiểu tiền phân từ đầu của chúng khi được xử lý bằng các enzym phân giải thành tế bào. Sự tái tạo thành tế bào và sự phát triển tiếp theo của các tiểu tiền phân đã được nghiên cứu bằng cả kính hiển vi quang học và kính hiển vi điện tử. Các karyoplast và cytoplast được ấp trong một môi trường nuôi cấy nghèo đã tái tạo một thành tế bào trong vòng 60 phút; vi sợi cellulose và callose đã được chỉ ra có mặt.
