Cơ bản cho việc lập kế hoạch sẵn sàng đối phó với thảm họa là phát triển các chiến lược đào tạo để bù đắp cho những cơ hội hạn chế trong việc có được kinh nghiệm thực tế trong việc phản ứng trước thảm họa. Liên quan đến giao tiếp, ra quyết định và phản ứng quản lý khẩn cấp tích hợp, việc phát triển các mô hình tinh thần có khả năng hòa giải kiến thức về nhiều mục tiêu với chuyên môn tập thể của những người phản ứng là một thách thức lớn cho việc đào tạo. Bài báo này khám phá công dụng của trung tâm đánh giá như một nguồn tài nguyên phát triển có khả năng đạt được mục tiêu này. Ngoài việc cung cấp nhiều mô phỏng được đánh giá chuyên nghiệp để tạo điều kiện cho việc phát triển và thực hành các kỹ năng cụ thể, khả năng của phương pháp trung tâm đánh giá trong việc thúc đẩy kiến thức ngầm và sự tự tin tự thể hiện khiến nó trở thành một phương tiện thích hợp để phát triển các mô hình tinh thần hỗ trợ các năng lực cốt lõi của quản lý thảm họa như nhận thức tình huống và ra quyết định tự nhiên cùng đội nhóm.
