Một chủng vi khuẩn có sắc tố hồng mới, được ký hiệu là chủng 3D7T, đã được phân lập trong quá trình nghiên cứu các loài có khả năng chịu lạnh tiềm năng từ đất ở Nam Cực. Các tế bào của chủng phân lập được quan sát có dạng hình que (0.7–0.9 × 1.0–2.2 µm), nhuộm Gram âm và không di động. Nó có khả năng phát triển ở nhiệt độ 4–32 °C, pH 7.0–10.0 và trong sự hiện diện của 0–3% (w/v) NaCl. Phân tích phát sinh nghĩa dựa trên chuỗi gen 16S rRNA cho thấy chủng 3D7T thuộc về chi Microvirga và có liên quan chặt chẽ đến ‘Microvirga brassicacearum’ CDVBN77T (98.3%), Microvirga subterranea DSM 14364 T (96.8%), Microvirga guangxiensis 25BT (96.5%) và Microvirga aerophila DSM 21344 T (96.5%).
