Trầm cảm ở phụ nữ phổ biến hơn trong giai đoạn tiền mãn kinh (giai đoạn chuyển tiếp đến mãn kinh) so với những thời điểm khác trong vòng đời. Các triệu chứng trầm cảm có thể khác biệt ở phụ nữ tiền mãn kinh so với phụ nữ trẻ hơn hoặc lớn tuổi hơn, và thường bị xem nhẹ như một phần của quá trình mãn kinh bình thường. Đây là một bài tổng quan theo chuyên gia.
