Ốc Echinolittorina sinh sống ở vùng đáy ven biển trên cao và phải đối mặt với áp lực chọn lọc mạnh mẽ từ các cực đoan nhiệt độ và dao động. Tổng cộng, 115,211 mảnh transcript độc nhất (unigenes) đã được lắp ráp, với chiều dài trung bình là 453 bp và kích thước N50 là 492 bp.
