Du Lịch Văn Hóa và Lịch Sử Phức Tạp: Nhà Thờ Akhtamar Armenia, Nhà Nước Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ và Danh Tính Quốc Gia

Bài báo này khám phá cách các quốc gia quản lý danh tính quốc gia của họ thông qua chính sách du lịch văn hóa. Nó dựa trên dữ liệu lưu trữ và khảo sát dân tộc học về việc mở cửa Nhà thờ Akhtamar Armenia ở Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ cho du lịch văn hóa và dịch vụ tôn giáo lần đầu tiên sau 95 năm. Dựa trên bằng chứng từ các tranh chấp giữa các bên tham gia với các cách diễn giải lịch sử mâu thuẫn, tôi nhận thấy rằng các quốc gia có thể sử dụng du lịch văn hóa để sản xuất nhiều biểu đạt khác nhau về danh tính quốc gia và quản lý những biểu đạt này theo lợi ích của mình. Sự tồn tại của nhiều giai đoạn khác nhau trong chính sách du lịch và tính chất bị ràng buộc về thời gian và không gian trong mỗi giai đoạn cho phép sản xuất nhiều hình ảnh trong các tình huống tương tác khác nhau. Đồng thời, diễn ngôn về phát triển kinh tế liên quan đến du lịch văn hóa cho phép các tác nhân nhà nước cách ly bản thân khỏi những chỉ trích trong các cuộc tranh luận về danh tính quốc gia. Bài báo cho thấy cách các quốc gia sử dụng du lịch văn hóa để tạo ra danh tính quốc gia ngay cả trong những trường hợp có lịch sử phức tạp.
