Dữ liệu từ 146 người tham gia (37% là nam giới) đã được đưa vào. Tuổi trung bình là 43.4 (SD = 13.3) năm. Thời gian theo dõi trung bình là 10 (IQR 5–40) tuần đối với triệu chứng hưng cảm và 10 (IQR 5–23) tuần đối với triệu chứng trầm cảm. Tổng cộng có 53 (36%) người tham gia có một triệu chứng hưng cảm và 67 (46%) có triệu chứng trầm cảm. Đối với triệu chứng hưng cảm, độ nhạy và giá trị dự đoán dương tính của các quy tắc kiểm soát của Shewhart lần lượt là 30% (95% CI 19–45%) và 7% (95% CI 5–9%), còn đối với triệu chứng trầm cảm là 33% (95% CI 22–46%) và 9% (95% CI 6–12%). Kết quả từ các phân tích thứ cấp tương tự như vậy. Việc theo dõi từ xa với các quy tắc kiểm soát có khả năng dự đoán khoảng một phần ba các triệu chứng hưng cảm hoặc trầm cảm trước khi chúng xảy ra, với mức độ sai dương cao.
