Auditors need to ensure that their companies possess proper systems
to safeguard against product liability claims under consumer protection
legislation. Such legislation is growing in severity in many parts of
the world, notably in the European Community. The consequences can be
product, brand or even company close down. The auditor needs to design
systems to prevent this. New legislation in the UK provides an
opportunity for all companies to review their current policy.
