Tóm tắt

The total-life fatigue behavior of Nitinol superelastic wire under uniaxial tension-tension loading is here investigated while monitoring the global stresses and strains. The strain-life (ε/N) fatigue under positive mean strain (εm > 0) and strain ratio (Rε (= εmin/εmax) > 0) conditions is reported under displacement-controlled condition in the mixed austenite–martensite phase region. A total of 383 fatigue tests were conducted with four pre-strains (6 to 10%), three mean strains (1 to 4.5%), three test temperatures (25 °C to 49 °C), two Af temperatures (20 °C and 32 °C), and a minimum of six strain amplitudes (from 0.18% to 0.60%). The effects of pre-strain, mean strain, temperature, and strain amplitude are discussed in terms of fatigue response. An empirical model for the prediction of the fatigue strain limit (FSL) of Nitinol under uniaxial loading is proposed. Finally, an energy-based FSL prediction model is discussed as it is applied to the current data.
