Desulfohalobium retbaense (Ollivier et al. 1991) là loài điển hình của chi đa ngành Desulfohalobium, bao gồm, tại thời điểm viết bài, hai loài và đại diện cho họ Desulfohalobiaceae trong lớp Deltaproteobacteria.
