Lọc màng bụng (PD) tiếp tục là một phương pháp điều trị quan trọng cho trẻ em mắc bệnh thận giai đoạn cuối. Hiệp hội Bác sĩ Nhi Khoa Canada đã nhận thấy cần thiết phải xem xét tài liệu liên quan đến việc thực hiện PD ở trẻ em trên toàn quốc nhằm cung cấp sự chăm sóc chuẩn hóa tối ưu. Điều này dẫn đến việc phát triển Hướng dẫn Thực hành Lâm sàng Canada cho lọc màng bụng ở trẻ em. Các hướng dẫn thực hành lâm sàng là một công cụ bổ trợ hữu ích cho chăm sóc lâm sàng. Bài đánh giá hiện tại bao gồm các khuyến nghị về vị trí và loại ống thông, yêu cầu cắt bỏ mạc nối dự phòng, khởi đầu và độ đầy đủ của quá trình lọc máu, đơn thuốc PD và loại trừ chất hòa tan.
