ABSTRACT Khi nghiên cứu tác động của chloral hydrate lên quá trình phân bào, chúng tôi phát hiện rằng việc áp dụng 0,1% chloral hydrate ngoài tế bào gây ra sự gia tăng đột ngột nồng độ Ca2+ tự do trong bào tương. Quan sát bằng kính hiển vi huỳnh quang kỹ thuật số trên các tế bào PtK đang trong quá trình phân bào và ở pha nghỉ cho thấy nồng độ Ca2+ tăng lên sau 15 giây kể từ khi áp dụng chloral hydrate, đạt đỉnh trong vòng 1 phút với nồng độ gấp hai đến bảy lần mức cơ bản và sau đó từ từ giảm xuống. Việc ngâm tế bào trong 0,1% chloral hydrate làm cho các thoi phân bào ở giữa bị rút ngắn, bắt đầu từ 1-2 phút, và ức chế sự kéo dài của thoi phân bào mà không ảnh hưởng đến sự chuyển động của nhiễm sắc thể về phía cực trong quá trình anaphase, được xác định qua quan sát bằng phương pháp tương phản pha trên các tế bào sống.
