Change in magnetic properties of superconducting ceramics under ion irradiation

The effect of irradiation with 48-MeV argon ions on the magnetic properties of high-temperature superconducting ceramics of the GdBaCuO system is studied. It is shown that ion irradiation with a dose up to 5 × 1011 cm−2 leads to an increase in the magnetization hysteresis of the ceramics.
