Virus tiêu chảy virus bò (BVDV) là một tác nhân gây bệnh nhai lại toàn cầu, chịu trách nhiệm cho bệnh Tiêu chảy Virus Bò với nhiều biểu hiện lâm sàng khác nhau và gây thiệt hại kinh tế nghiêm trọng trên toàn thế giới. Được phân loại trong chi Pestivirus, loài Pestivirus A và B (còn gọi là BVDV-1, BVDV-2) được phân tách gen thành 21 kiểu BVDV-1 và bốn kiểu BVDV-2. Thông thường, vùng không dịch mã 5' và protein Npro được sử dụng để phân loại. Tuy nhiên, sự biến đổi gen của BVDV dẫn đến những hạn chế trong các nghiên cứu trước đó phân tích các đoạn genome so với đánh giá toàn bộ genome. Để cho phép giải trình tự toàn bộ genome nhanh chóng và dễ dàng cho cả hai chủng BVDV-1 và BVDV-2, việc giải trình tự nanopore trên mười hai mẫu BVDV đại diện đã được thực hiện dựa trên các amplicon thu được qua quy trình PCR ghép.
