Tóm tắt

This paper investigates the lateral displacement and rotational behaviour of a combined footing resting at the ground level with a single pile structure installed in sands through constructing three-dimensional numerical models. In many cases, a pile restrained in a cap is considered as a fixed head pile (θ = 0), which is not a real representation of the case. There are no equations or guidelines, which provide any insight into the rotation or the lateral movement of the pile or the footing installed in the hybrid structure for an elastic soil medium. A statistical approach is adopted to screen a wide range of material properties and structural dimensions and to derive a systematic procedure to develop equations for this structure with the footing installed at the ground level. In the numerical models, a solid circular pile and footing are considered while the soil’s modulus of elasticity increased linearly with depth. The derived equations for the horizontal and rotational behaviour of the hybrid structure are related to the equations adopted for a single pile structure installed in an elastic soil medium.
