Bằng cách sử dụng dữ liệu tập hợp từ Khảo sát Sức khỏe Anh (HSE) và mô hình hồi quy bán tham số, bài báo này nhằm mục đích ước lượng mối quan hệ giữa trọng lượng cơ thể và xác suất có việc làm. Chúng tôi cho thấy rằng xác suất có việc làm không theo một mối quan hệ tuyến tính và cao nhất ở trọng lượng cơ thể vượt quá ngưỡng lâm sàng cho tình trạng thừa cân. Thay vì tìm thấy "hình phạt béo phì", chúng tôi phát hiện ra chứng cứ về một "ưu đãi thừa cân", đặc biệt trong các công việc có tính xã hội cao.
