Chứng cứ tích lũy cho thấy vai trò quan trọng của sự mỏng vỏ não trong sinh lý bệnh của rối loạn trầm cảm lớn. Tuy nhiên, mối liên hệ giữa độ dày vỏ não và suy giảm nhận thức với trầm cảm kháng điều trị (TRD) ít được nghiên cứu. Tổng cộng có 48 bệnh nhân trưởng thành bị TRD và 48 người đối chứng khỏe mạnh đã được tuyển chọn và thực hiện một loạt các kiểm tra thần kinh nhận thức và hình ảnh thần kinh, bao gồm các nhiệm vụ nhớ làm việc 1-back và 2-back cũng như chụp cộng hưởng từ não (MRI).
