Công trình nghiên cứu gần đây đã chỉ ra rằng các định kiến phán đoán trong quá trình xử lý khuôn mặt đóng vai trò như một chỉ số phản ánh sự lo lắng về sự không hoàn hảo về hình thể. Nghiên cứu hiện tại nhằm mục đích tái tạo và mở rộng công trình này bằng cách thử nghiệm thêm các mối quan hệ tương tác lớn hơn giữa các định kiến phán đoán, suy nghĩ xáo trộn, cảm xúc tiêu cực, hành vi không thích nghi và thời gian đầu tư vào mạng xã hội. Những phụ nữ báo cáo lo lắng về hình thể cao (n = 30) so với thấp (n = 33) đã phân loại hình ảnh khuôn mặt của chính họ và của người khác dựa trên sự hấp dẫn hoặc hướng nhìn bằng cách sử dụng Nhiệm Vụ Định Kiến Phán Đoán. Để đánh giá suy nghĩ xáo trộn và hành vi không thích nghi, các tham gia viên đã hoàn thành Nhiệm Vụ Suy Nghĩ Xáo Trộn Không Liên Quan và một nhật ký 3 ngày, tương ứng. Kết quả cho thấy rằng, bất kể phán đoán yêu cầu, những cá nhân có mức độ lo lắng về hình thể thấp đã nhanh hơn trong việc đưa ra phán đoán về những bức ảnh hấp dẫn so với những bức ảnh không hấp dẫn. Chúng tôi đã gọi định kiến mới và có khả năng bảo vệ này là “Xử Lý Hiệu Quả Hình Ảnh Tự Hấp Dẫn” (EPAS). Hơn nữa, các kiểu EPAS dự đoán mức độ lo lắng về hình thể thấp hơn, tự trọng cao hơn và hành vi không thích nghi giảm, bao gồm cả thời gian sử dụng màn hình giảm. Những phát hiện này nhất quán với sự liên quan tiềm tàng của EPAS trong việc duy trì lo lắng về hình thể.
