Tuyên bố mở rộng Các tiêu chuẩn về Báo cáo Thử nghiệm (CONSORT) cho các tóm tắt đã được phát triển nhằm cải thiện chất lượng báo cáo của các thử nghiệm ngẫu nhiên có đối chứng (RCT), bởi vì người đọc thường đánh giá một thử nghiệm chỉ dựa vào tóm tắt. Đến nay, có rất ít dữ liệu về việc liệu nó có đạt được mục tiêu này hay không. Chúng tôi đã đánh giá mức độ tuân thủ theo tuyên bố CONSORT cho tóm tắt về chất lượng báo cáo của các tóm tắt RCT từ bốn tạp chí y khoa tổng quát có ảnh hưởng lớn.
