Với sự ra đời của Đạo luật Nhận Nuôi Và Gia Đình An Toàn năm 1997, các nhân viên phúc lợi trẻ em phải đối mặt với nhiệm vụ đặt các nhóm anh chị em vào những gia đình nuôi dưỡng tiềm năng ngay sau khi họ được tách rời khỏi gia đình sinh học. Đôi khi, số lượng trẻ em và/hoặc nhu cầu đặc biệt của chúng đưa ra những lý do phản đối quan điểm truyền thống về việc giữ nguyên nhóm anh chị em. Bài báo này trình bày hướng dẫn trong việc đánh giá sự gắn kết giữa anh chị em và trong quá trình ra quyết định về việc đặt chỗ.
