Bằng cách áp dụng phương pháp giảm giản (nhưng không đơn giản) sử dụng một hệ thống mô hình động vật không xương sống đã được thiết lập, ốc lết Lymnaea stagnalis, chúng tôi đã điều tra xem (1) viêm do lipopolysaccharide (LPS) gây ra có gây ra trạng thái bệnh và làm suy giảm chức năng nhận thức hay không, và—nếu có—(2) aspirin (acid acetylsalicylic—ASA) có khôi phục được nhận thức bị suy giảm không.
