Mục đích của nghiên cứu này là xác định mức độ lưu trú không hợp lý tại một bệnh viện quân đội của Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ và khám phá các biến số có liên quan đến vấn đề này. Một cuộc xem xét đã được thực hiện đối với hồ sơ y tế của các bệnh nhân phẫu thuật nhập viện tại Bệnh viện Học viện Y tế Quân đội Gülhane. Để xác định tính hợp lý của thời gian nhập viện, một phiên bản tiếng Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ của Giao thức Đánh giá Tính hợp lý (Appropriateness Evaluation Protocol - AEP) đã được áp dụng hồi cứu. Tổng cộng 375 hồ sơ bệnh nhân đã được xem xét; và 21,3% số lần nhập viện được đánh giá là không hợp lý. Phân tích hồi quy logistic đa biến cho thấy thời gian lưu trú không hợp lý tăng lên đáng kể liên quan đến tuổi tác, tình trạng khẩn cấp, cấp bậc quân sự và khoảng cách từ bệnh viện đến nhà bệnh nhân. Kết quả của nghiên cứu cho thấy rằng việc thay đổi hành vi của bác sĩ và tổ chức các hoạt động của bệnh viện có thể có hiệu quả trong việc cải thiện chất lượng và hiệu quả của dịch vụ chăm sóc tại bệnh viện.
