Hơn 200 triệu người trên toàn thế giới đang chịu đựng bệnh lý tắc nghẽn động mạch ngoại vi (pAVK). Vì pAVK là một yếu tố nguy cơ đáng kể cho sự xuất hiện của các sự kiện mạch máu cấp tính và do đó cũng làm giảm đáng kể tuổi thọ của những bệnh nhân liên quan, họ được coi là bệnh nhân có nguy cơ cao. Điều trị kháng thrombo là một trong những trụ cột chính trong việc phòng ngừa các sự kiện này, nhưng hiệu quả của liệu pháp đơn trị kháng tiểu cầu dựa trên ASS (Acetylsalicylsäure) là hạn chế. Gần đây có những chỉ dẫn lần đầu cho thấy việc kết hợp liệu pháp đơn trị dựa trên ASS với liệu pháp chống đông liều thấp (Rivaroxaban 2 lần 2,5 mg) có thể mang lại lợi ích đáng kể cho các bệnh nhân pAVK có triệu chứng, cả trong và ngoài can thiệp. Những phát hiện mới này vừa được đề cập trong các hướng dẫn và tóm tắt trong các khuyến nghị mới, đồng thời có ảnh hưởng lớn đến liệu pháp kháng đông trước và sau can thiệp cho các bệnh nhân pAVK.
