Độ mờ hay hình thành là một khái niệm thường được sử dụng trong ngành công nghiệp để giải quyết các sai lệch về tính đồng nhất trong các sản phẩm không dệt và giấy. Việc đo chỉ số độ mờ dựa trên dữ liệu hình ảnh là một nhiệm vụ phổ biến trong đảm bảo chất lượng công nghiệp. Hai cách phổ biến nhất để định lượng độ mờ dựa trên phổ công suất hoặc hàm tương quan ở một bên, hoặc trên hình chóp Laplace ở bên kia. Ở đây, chúng tôi nhắc lại cơ sở toán học của tiếp cận đầu tiên một cách toàn diện, suy diễn ra một chỉ số độ mờ và chứng minh sự ước lượng thực tế của nó.
