Bộ Y tế đã quyết định rằng trẻ em dưới 16 tuổi mắc ADHD có quyền nhận thuốc miễn phí. Nghiên cứu này xem xét chi phí của Nhà nước cho thuốc ADHD và những tác động đối với việc triển khai bao phủ toàn dân theo chương trình bệnh lâu dài (LTI) cho trẻ em dưới 16 tuổi. Chúng tôi ước tính chi phí tiềm năng cho việc bao phủ toàn dân cho trẻ em dưới 16 tuổi. Quyền lợi hoàn trả thuốc cũng được nghiên cứu cho trẻ em mắc ADHD. Dữ liệu được thu thập từ Dịch vụ Hoàn trả Chăm sóc Sức khỏe cho các Chương trình Thuốc Cộng đồng năm 2011. Tổng chi phí và tỷ lệ phần trăm đã chi cho chương trình LTI được tính toán. 107,894 Euro (4.4%) trong số 2.4 triệu Euro mà Nhà nước đã chi cho thuốc ADHD vào năm 2011 thuộc chương trình LTI. Chúng tôi ước tính chi phí tiềm năng là 8.4 triệu Euro cho chi phí thuốc ADHD của Nhà nước dựa trên các mẫu kê đơn hiện tại. Có vẻ như chương trình LTI đang bị sử dụng không đúng mức, điều này dẫn đến trẻ em không nhận được thuốc ADHD miễn phí. Các chiến dịch nâng cao nhận thức công cộng và chuyên nghiệp là cần thiết để đảm bảo các gia đình nhận được lợi ích mà họ có quyền hưởng, và chi phí không trở thành rào cản đối với việc tuân thủ điều trị và cải thiện kết quả. Xuất phát từ đây, chúng tôi đưa ra các đề xuất cho việc kê đơn hiệu quả về mặt chi phí nhằm giảm thiểu những hệ lụy về chi phí tiềm năng.
