Các sự kiện tim mạch là nguyên nhân hàng đầu gây tử vong ở bệnh nhân mắc bệnh thận giai đoạn cuối (ESRD). Sự tuân thủ đối với thuốc liên kết phosphate đóng vai trò quan trọng trong việc giảm nồng độ phosphorus huyết thanh và nguy cơ tim mạch liên quan. Điều này tạo ra một thách thức cho bệnh nhân vì phác đồ điều trị thường phức tạp và có thể không có sự tác động rõ rệt của việc tuân thủ vào triệu chứng. Cần thiết phải xác lập mức độ không tuân thủ thuốc liên kết phosphate ở bệnh nhân chạy thận nhân tạo và xác định các yếu tố liên quan.
