Hệ thống phân phối nước gặp phải tình trạng rò rỉ, gây ra những chi phí xã hội và kinh tế. Cần có một nền tảng để quản lý hệ thống phân phối nước một cách hiệu quả hơn bằng cách phát hiện, định vị và kiểm soát các rò rỉ ngay cả khi chúng xảy ra hoặc ngay khi chúng bắt đầu xảy ra, nhằm đảm bảo cung cấp dịch vụ nước chất lượng cho người tiêu dùng. Trong hai thập kỷ qua, các nhà nghiên cứu đã nỗ lực cao độ để phát triển các kỹ thuật quản lý rò rỉ hiệu quả nhằm giảm thiểu tổn thất nước trong hệ thống phân phối. Bài báo này cung cấp một phân tích toàn diện về các kỹ thuật quản lý rò rỉ bao gồm ba khía cạnh: đánh giá rò rỉ, phát hiện rò rỉ và kiểm soát rò rỉ, với mục tiêu xác định các thách thức hiện tại và phạm vi tương lai trong lĩnh vực của họ. Vai trò của các công nghệ nước thông minh trong việc quản lý rò rỉ hiệu quả trong mạng lưới ống dẫn cũng được xem xét và thảo luận. Kết luận được rút ra về các kỹ thuật quản lý rò rỉ hiện tại và đề xuất cho các nghiên cứu trong tương lai cũng như các thách thức đang tồn tại được nêu rõ.
