Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu này là khảo sát việc chuẩn bị một tổ hợp polymer mới từ gelatin (GT), cao su tự nhiên (NR) và cellulose bã mía (BC) bằng cách sử dụng kali persulfate làm tác nhân khởi xướng và ure (U) làm chất dẻo hóa. Kết quả cho thấy hàm lượng độ ẩm, khả năng hấp thụ độ ẩm và tỷ lệ phồng giảm theo hàm lượng BC trong tổ hợp polymer. Hơn nữa, hàm lượng độ ẩm và khả năng hấp thụ độ ẩm có xu hướng tăng khi hàm lượng U tăng, trong khi góc tiếp xúc của mẫu giảm với việc tăng U. Độ kéo dài khi đứt cao nhất được tìm thấy với 2% BC. Ngoài ra, độ kéo dài khi đứt và tỷ lệ phồng cũng được cải thiện sau khi bổ sung U, và sự phân tán tốt của BC trong ma trận polymer cũng được xác nhận qua SEM. Cuối cùng, quá trình phân hủy sinh học của composite GT/NR xấp xỉ 60% sau 30 ngày chôn trong đất tự nhiên.
