A Modified Zeta Based High Power Quality Rectifier for Low Voltage Battery Charging Applications
Journal of The Institution of Engineers (India): Series B - Trang 1-14 - 2023
Tóm tắt
A single stage high power quality (HPQ) rectifier, comprising an extended step-down gain modified Zeta converter is realized in this work for low voltage E-2-wheelers (E2Ws), and E-3-wheelers (E3Ws) battery charging applications. The presented rectifier exhibts wide output range feature and therefore, setup of a universal charger for all classes of E2Ws/E3Ws with battery packs of 24–60 V ratings. Unlike conventional buck-boost derived HPQ rectifiers, the presented modified zeta based HPQ rectifier ensures steeper step-down voltage transfer ratio (VTR) between high voltage grid and low voltage battery packs through switched inductances. Further, the presented rectifier inherently exhibits HPQ at grid under discontinuous current mode conduction, and therefore, has simple and cost-effective control architecture. Furthermore, the zero current switching and low voltage/current stress across/through semiconductor devices, ensure low conduction and switching losses in the presented rectifier. Finally, the applicability of the presented rectifier as a universal E2Ws/E3Ws battery charger, is validated through experimental prototyping, and the results are analyzed in detail for its performance authentication.
