Pion Induced Productions for the Study of Heavy Baryons
Tóm tắt
We study heavy baryon productions,
$$\pi + p \rightarrow D^{*-} (\text {or }K^{*0}) + Y$$
, where Y is a charmed (or strange) baryon of the ground or excited states. We propose a new production mechanism where two quarks in the baryon participate in the reaction (the two-quark process), which enables the excitation of both the
$$\rho $$
and
$$\lambda $$
modes of the baryons. This feature differs from the one-quark process in the previous study, which excites only
$$ \lambda $$
modes. We consider the two-quark process with the vector Reggeon exchange and the two-quark interaction inspired by the instanton model to study one vector meson and one heavy baryon productions. We compare the production rates of the ground states, the
$$\rho $$
- and
$$\lambda $$
-mode excitations of strange and charmed baryons for forward-angle scattering. We discuss structure and momentum transfer dependence of the production rates. We show that in the two-quark process both
$$\lambda $$
and
$$\rho $$
modes are abundantly produced unlike the one-quark process.
