The flow of a conducting fluid past a magnetized cylinder at high magnetic reynolds numbers

A conducting, inviscid fluid flowing past a magnetized cylinder changes the magnetic field outside and inside the cylinder. This field is found for a cylinder magnetized as a dipole, with the restrictions that (a) the magnetic field is weak and (b) the magnetic Reynolds number is large. The magnetic field in turn alters the velocity field by the generation of vorticity, and the new velocity field and the resulting drag are found when the direction of the dipole is parallel to the free stream.
