Analysis and experimentation of service disciplines to guarantee real-time communications
5th IEEE International Conference on High Speed Networks and Multimedia Communication (Cat. No.02EX612) - Trang 243-247
Tóm tắt
This paper studies the behavior of four service disciplines that can be implemented at the output queues of switches in a connection-oriented packet switched network. They are delay-EDD, jitter-EDD, WFQ and stop-and-go. We simulate and analyze their behavior for periodic messages in an ATM network. The choice to simulate these disciplines, at the same time, for ATM traffic, is motivated on one hand by the fact that these service disciplines use different methods to schedule packets in the network, and on the other hand by the fact they are the most used and the most studied in the context of guaranteeing quality of service (QoS) in a connection-oriented packet switched data network.
