Tóm tắt

The moiré method of experimental stress analysis was used to determine thermal stresses in cylinders subjected to a symmetrical steady-state temperature distribution. Techniques were developed to apply a grid of 1000 lines/in. directly to engineering materials. A test fixture was designed and tested. Thermal stress tests on a series of steel rings were performed. The results of these tests indicate a good correlation with the available theoretical solution and prove that the moiré method can be used to advantage in thermal-stress boundary-value problems.
