A Microstructural Model for Liquid Crystalline Polymers
Tóm tắt
We have developed a numerical technique to investigate the effect of different Frank elastic constants on the microstructure of liquid crystalline materials. In particular the technique is applied to predict microstructure in polymeric materials where the splay elastic constant is high and the twist elastic constant is low. It is found that such a combination of elastic constants leads naturally to the twist escaped features seen experimentally.
